Newport Wafer Fab (NWF) is the largest semiconductor wafer fabrication facility in the UK, located in Newport, South Wales. It operates as a 200mm SMIF wafer fab with a production capacity of approximately 32,000 wafer starts per month, with plans to expand to 44,000. The facility specializes in manufacturing high-end silicon devices and compound semiconductors, catering to industries such as automotive and industrial markets.

With over 35 years of history in semiconductor design and manufacturing, NWF has evolved significantly, recently being acquired by Vishay Intertechnology. This acquisition includes a substantial investment of around $1.2 billion over three years to enhance capacity and focus on decarbonization and electrification technologies. NWF offers a range of services, including the fabrication of various semiconductor wafers, advanced wafer thinning methods, and comprehensive manufacturing services that support the entire product lifecycle. The facility is recognized for its expertise in compound semiconductors and is positioned as a key player in the UK�s semiconductor ecosystem.
